RFC - Baptism

We attend a wonderful growing church here in the Springs (Rock Family Church), where Tara and I serve as Kid's Church teachers 1 Sunday a month, and where we also learn, worship, and grow in our faith. As well I share the privilege of being one of the photographers that gets to photograph some of the happenings of the church - this month I'll be snapping away during Easter Service and the Easter egg-hunt ... should be a blast.

This past Sunday I was asked to take some shots of the baptism in which I gladly said yes -- it is a wonderful thing to witness. Here are a couple images from the service...

Flowbee Haircut

My Brother-n-law{Jimmy} just bought a Flowbee on eBay a couple days ago, I was so excited to see it in person for the 1st time ever. I couldn't wait... I kept asking him when he was going to crack it open and use it so I could capture this momentous occasion. Finally today he decided to use it... Heck YES! Tara assisted Jimmy so I could capture the images...

I have to say after he used it I was impressed... not that bad of a little haircut he got - everything was cut perfectly and even. Will I use it? Maybe not... but we'll see... maybe once at least so I can say that got a Flowbee haircut once.

Cathy Sullivan - Photo Shoot

It was a pleasure to meet Cathy, she was such a lovely woman (wife, mother, and grandmother) with an amazing story of life to tell. We did a lot of talking during our time together and I got just a glimpse of what others in her life know of her, that she is a sweetheart and that she's lost lots of weight and looks fantastic - WAY TO GO CATHY! Cathy brought along her dog "Baby" and I was able to sneak some shots of Baby before he stopped looking at the camera and barked every time the shutter went off...

We shot at "the Garden of the Gods" this past Saturday and enjoyed lovely sunny weather in the area, here are some images from our shoot -

Slingshot 300 AW {quick} Review

Well I got a new camera bag a couple weeks ago, so I wanted to do a quick review of this new bag also to let you know why I bought this bag other than all the other great bags out there...

I started my search online and came across a great blog that reviewed 3 bags - I was {this} close to buying the 6 or 7 Million Dollar Home bag by Crumpler or even the National Geographic bag (the lack of padding changed my mind). I wanted a bag that was an over the shoulder bag rather than a backpack as they would be cumbersome while shooting and doing a quick change of lenses. So after many weeks of searching and making notes and reading reviews I landed on the Lowepro Slingshot 300 AW (All-weather) which I found on Amazon for less than $80 on sale... now it's priced back above $100.

I must say that I now like this bag a lot as it's comfortable to wear and a cinch to get into and swap lenses. While wearing the bag you tug on the bottom portion and pull around front where you have access to the middle compartment via a side zipper. This does get some getting used to but once you've done it about 5 times in action you should be a pro at it. There is lots of space in the bag and lots of pockets AND most important to me lots of padding.

I've setup the inside compartments a little different which has made getting to my lenses a breeze. The only issue I with the bag so far is the hip belt gets in the way when you're not wearing it... I do wish there was a way to hide this like you can the All Weather lining.

Charlie and Lola Party & Before and Afters...

We had a Charlie and Lola themed Birthday Party for Kenzie a couple weeks ago. I created a banner for her birthday party that hung up in the living room.

Lost - Who's eye in the cabin?

Ok so a lot of people can swear to know who the eye (the was seen in the scene when Hurley looks into Jacob's cabin) - well I think it could be Jack's.

Here's a comparison that I did - Photo 1 is the mystery eye from "Beginning of the end" - the second picture is from Season 2 finale... (What do you think?)

Kenzie Year 2

On Saturday January 21st, 2006 - Kenzie Rayen Gonzalez was introduced to this world at 3:04 PM. This will always go down as our best day - 3 weeks ago Kenzie turned 2 years old. Each year I create a "Year in Pictures" movie (via iMovie and iDVD) and I'm sure I'll continue to do this till she's in her late 20's...
